maybe missed ?. my off topic boeing point was, its pretty evident that the manufacturers dont always make the most inteligent provisions when it comes to making choices for us. whilst there are times i am happy to let that happen ,if i am paying,i want ultimate control ,NOT some piece of damn silicon (or the like )
hope the OP gets what he wants out of what he paid for....think its just a lighter foot approach and not initiating kickdown.?

Admittedly all ours are older 5 speeds and 4 speeds but if I select a lower gear it won't change past that gear (happily (?!) bouncing off the rev limiter if requested).
It will always change down if it thinks it's better to do so (the V8 more readily than the V6).
It's possible to have the transmission remapped to allow full control I believe.


right,got that,tho would think that better as a switch in car providing that option ,if not already there.... i have always seemed to manage this issue with the right foot, maybe some cars are now more "sensitive "?

The 230 is definitely more sensitive than than the 210 but then it's also sportier.
