Hi all,

My car's a 1984 500 SEC, W126

I've had it off the road for a while and need to replace the battery, problem is the bonnet will not open! When I pull the release in the car the driver side pops up fine but the passenger side doesn't budge. I've tried push/ pull etc. while someone else pulls the release but to no avail.

Any ideas, I'm desperate! Seems such a simple thing but its driving me nuts!

Thanks in advance,

Les

Not sure if yours is the single spindle or the U type hook, try getting underneath and removing the undertray and see if you can locate the problem lock from there..a bit of fiddling around with a long screwdriver or coathanger might just catch the errant cable..failing that ..any chance of getting a look at another SEc and check out how the lock releases..again if the bonnet slope allows last resort is to cut thru the spindle or hook with a hacksaw blade or one of the cheese cutter type flexiblade..Ill have a look and see if i can find how they close..
