Maybe give these lads a ring . Its ok having a go at things ,but you need to know when your beat and listen a bit more .

Well thankyou for your unhelpful comment in my post luv and after speaking to a Auto key programmer today he confirms to IR in fact does have allot to do with starting my VAN (not car) because without the ir it dont start so I hope you learnt something today...

Just read through this and that key is beyond repair

I know dont think my desperate butcherism at the start did me any favours :-( so yeah advise to self dont try and repair you key late at night after a wine or two with a paint stripper gun lmso

So I think my best option now would be something along the lines of buying a used key+barrel already key tracked up and marry that up to the ecu ?? Does that sound about right ?

The more you mess about with the fob the more is being broke.
If that's how you will advise customers when you open your garage they wont be coning back.
Quit while you are ahead.
1 - where is the spare set.
2 - a trip to the dealers or the link above and open your wallet.
3 - otherwise you will be asking for hot wire tips

Not sure what you mean by advise ??? and I'm going to be converting sprinters so not dealing with customers like a garage, but thanks for your concern lol

Can you ask him how the car will start without a battery in the key fob then?

Or how the upper key of this pair works (it has no IR, battery or RF)?


The flat key is a (rarely seen) service key and can be used to start the engine.

If i was a betting man I'd say you're trying any old keys off eBay with your few chips from original key soldered on in an attempt to end up with a working key . I mean saying you dropped the key and snapped off the end, lol. Did you drop it off Blackpool Tower. Ha ha ...

If i was a betting man I'd say you're trying any old keys off eBay with your few chips from original key soldered on in an attempt to end up with a working key . I mean saying you dropped the key and snapped off the end, lol. Did you drop it off Blackpool Tower. Ha ha ...

The key had been pulled apart previously to put a new case on and once I dropped it, it split apart again and I was taking in the views at Blackpool Tower with my soldering iron hence why it was such a terrible job hahahaha

Also your almost right lol I purchased x10 used keys off eBay to waffle about with and for spares in future but I know there is no point trying any of them in my van cus every key is something like 48bit encrypted to the last van it was in, shocking who I got them from but heyho

Well A quick update, I am pretty shocked at how easy it is to womble a mercedes if you have the right kit, a few days relentless learning and around £500 I've managed to retrieve the keytrack from my EIS and make a new key plus block my old keys key track so all sorted, thanks to all you guys for jumping on and commenting Twas A giggle .....Right just bought a 16 seater sprinter minibus with an electrical problem, and Im turning it into a mental motorhome woohoo
