Hi - I am new to the forum. I am about to buy an SL320 W129 (1997). Can't wait. I am looking for a car cover. My main concern is to keep out the moisture/wet as it will be parked on the drive/street. I have had problems with E class of the same period (W124) rusting on the wings/arches after only a few months on the road. I live in Manchester with constant rain that does not help. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

My 1994 SL320 lives out in all weathers and has done for at least the last five years. I try to keep it reasonably clean and free from salt in the winter and I have had no problems with rust. Not too many problems at all really.
I have replaced the soft top but that was because of cracked plastic windows and worn out seams. Keeping the car covered would not have made any difference to that.

Welcome to the forum,,these cars do not rust, and this is not a problem,,if you do get a cover,,make sure it is the type that can breath
