hello guys and good morning. i want to share a small story about my car delay and ask for you opinion and experience to try and get the best compensation possible.
I live in Gibraltar and back in August i ordered a new Mercedes C220d (the new modle) and was told by the guy that normally it takes 2 weeks, however because of delays it should take around 4-6 weeks "2 months you get it for sure dont worry" was what he said in the end. needless to say it did not happen, and around November i went there to make some noice and demand a curtesy vehicle. i was told that no one get a vehicle in case of delays (which late on i found out was a lie as i met a guy who did) , and they offer me some Mitsubishi for 500 euros a month (instead of a 1000), well i took it as i had no other option because the customs would not let me dive my foreign plated vehicle any longer. got the call that my car should arrive in the next 2 weeks about a week and a half ago, about 4 months after the "dont worry 2 months its here" claim (about half a year in total).
now i know there are delays all over the world, but i also know they suppose to sign you on a contract that says that, and for sure not to promise me it will arrive in max 2 months. i was not signed on such a contract , and i know they do sign customer now (it says it can delay up to a year). what should i demand as compensation ? is it even worth fighting for?

thanks guys and have a great day!

Hello and welcome,

It's common these days unfortunately, the lack of chips and world events will no doubt be the reason quoted by Mercedes and that it was outside of their control. My W213 E220d should have arrive in March 2016 it didn't turn up until July 2016

Welcome :

That's a frustrating story, but it seems to be the norm. My son has ordered a CLA 250e which was promised for January 2022. It hasn't even been assigned a "build slot" yet and isn't expected until May???

I'll also be interested to see how much of the "Premium Plus" spec is missing when it does eventually turn up!

Hello, Did you pay a deposit? I am in a similar situation where I also paid a deposit the and best they can do is offer a refund of any monies paid, (which I think they would be happy to do as it makes the list of unhappy customers shorter), or you wait... but make sure it will arrive with the spec you ordered due to the issues as esteemed members of the Forum have already advised....

Dreaming of a CL55k - one day maybe....
Yes, perfectly normal at the moment - doubt you will get any compensation unless there is provision for it in the purchase contract

Welcome to the forum.
As a seller of new Fords in the UK I can guarantee you there will be no compensation as the delay is out of Mercedes' control.
What I would be doing though is taking issue with the salesman who was telling you blatant porkies regarding delivery times in order for you to place the order.
There is a Ford dealer not a million miles from me that is doing exactly that.
They are telling customers they can expect their new car to arrive within 2 months, just to get the order, and around 3 weeks afterwards the customer receives a call telling them unfortunately the build date has slipped by 4 months, when in reality, that was always the expected build date from the start, whereas we are telling customers right at the start to expect a minimum of 4 months for delivery, probably more, so there is no misunderstanding, and this situation has been ongoing for over a year now, so there is no excuse for lying to a customer.
