As above, trawling through the net trying to find cheaper car insurance, best price so far £340, went on the post offie site £235.00 but this time added the wife to the policy, take her off and it goes up by £90 wheres the logic in that then.

Just went on the Post Office site for a quote. On my E320, its £396 for me and the wife or £425 for me on my own! Thankfully I pay only £290 at the moment with Morethan insurance. Hope the renewal will be just as kind ;)

Just goes to prove that she can drive a car no matter what damage has been done.

Sorry, don't agree. You guys just can't face the fact that we're better drivers. That's the simple reason that your insurance is cheaper. :p

Helen, my comment was on “confusion marketing” and the illogical pricing by insurance companies and not on female drivers, the fact a female was involved is completely irrelevant, I bet if you call 5 or 6 different insurance companies for a quote, there will be huge differences in the premium quoted.

I agree insurance companies see female drivers as a safer risk than men and this is reflected in the premiums.

I'd recommend leasing one, you can always exchange her if she becomes too troublesome.

Is that so then, so why when I took myself off my wifes insurance did hers go up by a massive 35%

So to put things right the current Mem Saab has joined Shelia's Wheel's cos as she says she gets £200 cover for her handbag for free and £1000 cover for her (MotorWorld £49.99) ICE kit so all we need now is some buff headed 14 year old high on Big Mac's and Alco-Pops to pay the car a visit, must remember to tell her to leave it in Morrisons Car park for a couple of minutes;) and we are well in profit considering the car is worth about £500

Try ADMIRAL 0800600840 they were the cheapest for me. I found them very polite and helpful and they are based (including call centres) in Britain!
And no I don't work for them.
By the way can you belive my car insurance is cheaper if the car is on the drive rather than always in the garage..........work that one out?
And my insurance is cheaper with my partner as a named driver and hers is cheaper with me as a named driver......?
