Had my renewal on the E class £50 less than last year, but the wife's SLC is up £50.
Coz they're a bunch of thieving p***ies, who just stick their finger in th air then double the figure, hoping we don't notice.Direct Line renewal - £890.
Called them and said are you having a laugh? Aviva on comparison site £534. Dropped to £628.
Left it a week. Called again and said is this the best? Told, yes, you've got all discounts available.
Said I would go to Aviva if necessary.
Lady asked would I like a quote for the top level cover. Worth a look.
£538. How? Staying with Direct Line.
Mine went up 38% as a result of a no fault claim a few years back. It is, apparently, an "incident fee" that is added, according to Admiral (I think it was, possibly Aviva) but my NCB was "unaffected"! Their case manager couldn't get their head around the fact that the NCB may as well be measured in bananas, for all its worth.
So NCB is a certified scam!If you have a "no fault claim" you are then a "statistic" so they automatically put your insurance up
I’m buying my car on Saturday and my current insurer will no longer cover me (Allianz). They are also trying to charge me a cancellation fee . No option to call them, account management is done online.
Have been on all the comparison sites, and I’m going from £400 in my old car to £900-1000 in my Merc
I had a non fault claim last month that’s not totally settled so that’s probably got a lot to do with it and I’m aware that buying insurance in advance helps too. Hopefully next year will be better.
1. Yes I’m going to try.Tell them to stick it, if they won't insure your new car then it is their fault
Electric cars are dearer to insure due to the high write off rate and high costs of repairs
3 weeks before your renewal is the prime time to get quotes, makes insurers think you are less of a risk because you plan
