I've just bought a C class, 2015, and I'm till getting used to lots of things. If I sit in my car after a drive (checking my phone, listening to the radio, etc) the car seems to go into a mode where I can't lock it when I get out. So far, I've worked out that if I start my engine again, just for a couple of seconds, then it's fine. Does anyone know why this happens? Is it a fault do you think?

Sounds a bit odd to me but there again my 209 coupe still seems to do odd things even after I've had it two years. It's usually my expectations which are wrong. Have you checked the owners manual ?

Good to know it's not something wrong (probably), thanks ;).
Is it some kind of protection thing? Although I don't understand what it's protecting :)

I had similar issues with another model but as you know your exact situation better than a series of questions could uncover quickly, perhaps you could have a tinker with some of the ideas below...

If you have just acquired the car, hopefully its just a vehicle setting or key fob issue and re-setting to your requirements solves the issue. Also, double clicking the lock function can deactivate keyless go... you will need to hit any button to reactivate...

1. MB Keyless Go
2. Key Fob Issues

Could help explain, why putting the key in the ignition helps, because it is re-setting the key...
Good luck..
