I'm not sure what the point is of doing it

so that your car looks like someone has forgotten to laquer it so that it shines!

sorry but this current craze for matt finishes does not inspire me at all! there was i honda i used to see where they guy liked the matt finish. he brush painted it with blackboard paint. awful idea, IMO.

It does worry me sometimes if I leave it anywhere about someone ripping it etc.... but then again its no different to someone keying / scraping someone's paintwork, just that its a lot cheaper to mend!!

Richard - cost wise i would charge around £800 - £1000 for a non-laquer crappy matt finish, about the same for gloss. Reasons for doing it is, most people say its for 'paint protection', whereas i'm a little more honest and just fancied a colour change and something a little different. I may give it another change in the new year!

Few examples of some cars i've wrapped in matt this year....

What is the shelf life of this wrap before it starts to look tired and starts to peel off, particulary around the edges and handles.

they say 6-8 years but loads of factors can change that, from experience it doesnt really like the snow or really cold conditions. I've never had anyone come back complaining though so perhaps i'm just picky! Mine has ben matt grey for about 8 months now I think and is as still as new.

Many thanks for your reply, how much would it cost for my 2002 W210 e320cdi Avantgarde Estate to be wrapped, and does the cost vary with colour choice, mine is Traventine Beige Metallic and thinking about maybe Black or a different colour.
Thanks

I like the idea and the look of a wrap but think it would be a bitch to remove !

I have spent hours removing signwriting from vans when coming to sell them

@cfoster ..I think the Ford looks a bit unfinished..... Works on others but not that ...

So how do you repair it if it gets keyed? Just do a new strip? Would that not show as a different hue though after the original stuff had been on a while?

Focus is a dogs dinner anyway.
The wrap just makes you think about the wrap and not the ugly looking car.

How do you get around the "colour" on your documentation saying "Silver" if you them have a temp wrap in say black or red for example??... do you have to change your reg document?

Interesting process though!! :D
