I recently bought a 1982 200 mercedes estate and It has broken down 3 times. The engine cuts out when ideling for too long, but THIS SEEMS TO BE INTERMITENT. Anyway the AA man looked at the carburetor and it was flooded with fuel.
I had a local garage try and fix the problem and after spending £300(all new parts for the carburetor) it is still not fixed. The garage could not reproduce the fault the 2nd time they tried to fix it.
. HELP PLEASE
1. DO I NEED A NEW CARBURETOR (mercedes do not stock any longer)
2. WHERE CAN I GET A GOOD RECONDITIONED ONE if this is indeed the source of the problem.

I live in Cirencester Gloucestershire, does anyone know where the nearest
supplier for this part might be.

Many thanks for any help advice
Brian.

Your Mercedes
A diesel
It sounds like the needle valve for the float may be sticking open.
Look in Yellow pages for a carburettor specialist, or look on the webber web site for dealers.
