Not sure if this the right forum - but here goes anyway. I like to make copies of cds to play in the car, keeping the original for home use (legal I have been told). Only problem is that the cds will play in any other player except the one in my CLK. I copy the cds ona mac using I-tunes - anyone got any suggestions as to how to get the copies to play in my Merc?

what speed do you burn them at?
can you get a burning program called NERO to work on the mac?
download a free demo from http://www.nero.com/us/Downloads.html
have a read of their faqs and it may work on your mac
p.m. me i may be able to help you further

What shaggy says above is spot on... burn them at the lowest speed and if a particular brand doesn't work just try another - swap blanks with mates until you find a brand that works in the car.

Don't even try CD-RWs - the rewritable ones are utterly insuitable for audio use, they might work occasionally but a lot of machines won't even read audio off them.

I believe later CD players are specially set up not to read burnt CD's, although not having a later CD player I couldn't confirm this from experience. It's supposed to be anti piracy. I've always used burnt CD's as, if someone breaks into the car seeing a CD player and takes the CD's, you haven't lost a £100+ of CD's.

CD's burnt from iTunes do work in my CLK

I burnt 5 Sony Audio CD's the other day and they worked fine in my Audio 10 in my CLK. I didn't tweak any settings on my iMac and the songs from iTunes copied and played just fine. The Sony discs come in colours so you even match the colour of your interior/exterior

It's a got to do with the firmware in your player. Older models were not programed to use Mp3, CDR or CDRW. I do beleive that you have a better chance with Audio specific media. As opposed to general data discs.

Have you tried drawing a circle around the innermost track, with a black felt tip pen? Apparently this is where the anti-piracy info is stored; if you draw over it, then it will play. I don't know if it works or not but its worth a go!

I have a 2002 W203 with an Audio10 unit which plays my cd-r's without any problems. The discs that I use are usally the cheapest available i.e. not a major brand and only cost about 8p per cd.
