CDI Chips?

I have a CLS 320CDI as my company car, has anyone any advise regarding tuning chips/mods?

I think there are various opinions ranging from good to bad, I think a re map of the ecu is the best and safest way to go for your engine, a chip that I fitted to my van just increased the fueling and made it smoke terribly also I think I have read somewhere that to increase the fuel you need to increase the air flow, not sure if it means increasing the air to the air filter or through the intercooler, not much use really am I?

Most mods on cdis seem to work well, whether it's the smart box plug in variety or the ecu remap. The only concern is that if they find out then a) your insurance is invalid and b) your warranty is too.
You'll get more performance but less economy. The better economy argument only really applies to manuals and even then it's down to the driver.
There are cheap solutions which are suspect but stuff from Superchips, VanAnaken etc are reputable and most come with a money back guarantee if you're not happy.
