That's the same guy. I was just wondering if it would go into the CL body?

i dont see why not! a cl is bigger than an sl and was probably offered with the same range of engines! only one way to find out! someone has to be the first! and who knows, maybe MB will take the hint and offer a diesel in the lower end of these models alongside 280's and 320's etc!

They did offer the diesel in the S class body for some markets but they were AFAIK L/H drive. I'd hate to chop up a CL only to find the turbo hasn't got room a la W124.
The other thing is that I don't know the first thing about CL's or how complicated they are electronically. Have they got SAM's?

The first thing to sort would be the donor car. I'd need to find an owner who's fed up with his rusty poorly running W210 300D.......

i believe thats why you use the 603 pump, so theres nothing complicated, as such! if the cl has a steering box it may have clearance issues. as far as i can tell, the 210 swapped to a steering rack so the issue was eliminated. or at least thats how it looks, looking in from the wheelarch!

easiest way to get a turbo diesel under the bonnet is sell older car, buy newer car.

Another way I've heard suggested is to use a Sprinter engine. Based on the 605 (AFAIK) has a turbo, short 5-pot configuration and hopefully less electronics than a 210/211
