I have been browsing some of the used car websites as I am looking at purchasing a E320I cdi. The cars I am looking to buy are 00/01 E320CDI. The question I have is are these cars V6 diesel or just 'normal' 6 cylinder.

Hello and welcome, the V6 did not come till 05 I believe, the CDI engines are common rail and go well

At this age, you would be looking at a W210 with the Straight 6 3.2 litre CDI engine

The 320CDI V6 is actually a 3.0 litre engine and came out in 2004

in 2000 the mercedes 3.2 CDI engine was probably the best diesel in the world, and it is pretty impressive now. Power delivery is a bit old school - it really does provide a massive kick at 1500 rpm, the engine is refined and smooth, even when reved hard, and odly enough it does make a lovely noise too

Economy of the IL6 is not much worse than the V6 A saloon will easily return 37mpg and an estate 35mpg

The main reason for developing the V6 was so that it would fit into all of the Mercedes Chassis, the IL6 is just too long for the Vito, ML and C class

Thankyou gentlemen, comprehensive answer to question. I am contemplating emigrating to Oz and would consider bringing this car with me. I see on a couple of posts a guy called Auzzie dave. Is it possible I can post to him directly or do I have to wait for the 'mountain to approach mohammed'
