Ceased Calliper

Hi Guys
Have had a unsettling time with my cars, first the SL was playing up now as i was driving the C Class on Sunday noticed some rubbing sound didnt think much of it at the time till i got closer to home noticed car wasnt right and could smell something burning....
Got home and there was smoke coming from the o/s brake caliper..... gave it in today and was told that the calliper was ceased stiff and he will try and release it, i had similar problem a few years back when the screw snapped and had it replaced with a used calliper....
i originally though that the pads were worn down and that it was metal against metal.....

why cant life be trouble free.....

I get weeks Raj where everything I touch goes wrong, It's hardly worth trying to free it off as it can do it again,Also after the heat encountered, it will not be very safe to use again. I think this is the first seized caliper in the time that I have been on the forum.

Agreed. Replace it or it will become the bane of your life. I ended up stripping a claiper down every few weeks as once it's siezed, chances are, it will keep doing it.
Stuck calipers are normally down to corrosion on the outer edge and once the piston is pitted, you can clean it up and get it working again, but the corrosion will return and it will stick again.
Rare on Mercs but it can happen.

my mechaninc has released it and lubed it up, he hasnt replaced it so see what happens now.... will tell mrs to keep an eye on it as she uses it now
