ok guys i need some help! i've just got a c180 sport (95) and the central locking is completely kaput. I took the fob apart and resoldered the button that had detached and the fob is now working, but the central locking is not.

here's the killer... this little dude was happily bouncing around in the glovebox when i got the car and (being a bit simple) i have no idea what it is, does or where it came from but am presuming i need it!? :)
Anyone who can tell what i need to do would most definately make my christmas card list, only being able to get in from the passenger side is not the most practical! :)

that is the locking control module. presumably you have keyholes in both front doors, a normal style ignition key and a seperate remote?

blimey... thanks for the quick replies! but no, the only keyhole is on the passenger front door, and i have a single key for doors and ignition. It's a single button flip key?

in that case the laser module is just for the alarm and secondary immobiliser. i would file it if i were you, suggest under B for bin.

does the central locking work from the passenger side lock? ie do you have a CL problem or a remote CL problem...

oh... thats that then :) there's no central locking at all, only the passenger door unlocks on the key, the button on the dash though seems to lock all the doors but only when it wants to, sometimes it whines like it's doing something but nothing happens?

If you press the panic button from central console the car is closing/opening?

well it did... the first couple of times so i was happy, as long as i had a passenger they could just open the door with the key and unlock the other doors from the dash! but today this isn't working. Pressing the button does nothing at all :(

It would seem that you have a leak in the vacuum system somewhere

Hi Television
The central locking on my W164 doesn't operate and I suspect the central locking controller/lock/spring
I have been searching your forum and it would seem to confirm
I have obtained the spring kit on E-bay and removed the door panel but, am now stuck with the inner panel
Can you please assist ?

thanks
