Can anyone help?

I have a 1998 r reg e280 w210.

When i bought it,it had been stood for a while and the central locking or any other vacumn features didnt work.i was told that this is normal when stood and it would kick back in with use.not so..ive exposed the pump and when you press the alarm fob to lock it clicks..same when trying to unlock..i assumed i needed a new pump..ive got one..fitted it and its just doin the same..getting sick of locking every door seperatly,is there a gassing up procedure that i dont know about.

any help or advice would be really appreciated

If the pump is working it will run for 18 sec with no vacuum pipe connected, does it do that

hi malcolm

when i plugged the three leads in with no pipes attached it was just clicking on press of the button, but the pump has come from a fully working breaking car...im thinking electrical because the perm live at the radio is dead even though all the fuses are intact..would it still click if the master live was missing..

regards

The PSE pump has a permanent plus live feed, and a live signal from the door switches. If the all time live is missing, then the relays will just click,,fuse gone ??

hi

this is the circle that im in..i got back to fuse but ive checked every fuse in the car and there all intact..my next move tomorrow is to not only check the fuse but also check that there is power at the fuse..does this seem like common sense or would you have a better next step

thanks so much for your time by the way..

I would check that you do having a standing live feed on the pump, check this by putting the meter across the pins on the plug

As Malcom says check for an actual live. Assuming that you've checked all 3 fuse boxes the fuse could be missing totally.

Would,nt the PSE pump need to be coded to the car?
Was the second hand pump you sourced exactly the same pt. no. as i believe there are quite a few variations of this pump.
I have always believed that these pumps had something to do with the alarm system, though i maybe completely wrong but it could,nt do any harm to to check the alarm system fuses in your job/mission tomorrow.
