Hi all.

I noticed over the weekend that my central locking was not always responding to my key fob. It took about a dozen goes to get it to lock.

I thought that the battery in the fob must be getting low. So I got my spare key out and tried that, same response. About 10 goes to get the car open and another 10 to lock it.

I've changed the battery in the fob but still have the same problem. I've tried from all angles around the car, but nothing seems any better.

Any clues?

Could be a sensor, but lets start elsewhere.

You don't mention what car you have, but have you tried activating the central locking using the dash mounted switch? Does it react as slowly? If it does you could have a vacuum leak or a problem with the pump.

Chris,

I have a July 04 C270 cdi.

I will try the central locking switch on the dash and report back.

Thanks.

You could also have a dry joint on the PCB on the fob,, have you tried the spare key

Right guys.

I've tried BOTH fobs which both react inconsistantly. Occasionally it opens or locks first time, but on the whole it takes about 8 - 10 goes. (Thanks for the kind words Geezer - the spare key is a button fob!!!)

I have tried the central locking button within the car and that works and responds fine.

Possibly something wrong with the sensor?

Thanks Malcolm, but what does that mean?!!! Even Google can't help me!!! Is there a rear amp? Fitted in the rear of the main windscreen sensor or the rear screen?

Can I sort it out myself or is it garage / dealers?

I do like to have a go!

Thanks for your help.
