Central locking vacuum pump

I have hunted everwhere for central locking vacuum pump on my 1996 SLK, HELP does anybody know where it is?

They are normally in the boot, open it and operate the central loking and you will hear it. You will find it all here.

Whilst the pump is here http://www.detali.ru/cat/oem_mb2.as...417717.418&CT=F&cat=45F&SID=80&SGR=040&SGN=02 it only shows you what it looks like not it's position relative to the bodyshell. Oh well can't have everything for free.

It's in the boot. Remove the spare wheel and it's to the right of that enclosed in thick foam. Why do you need to find it, what is the problem?

The battery keeps going flat and the central locking has stopped working at the same time. I think water has got in and damaged the vacuum pump. Think thats whats draining the battery also.

Hi,

I've had a couple of these do similar things and had got water in to the CDL pump. I know that the SLK (170 chassis ) do have a bit of a probelm with the seal that sits on the rear of the roof. It's the seal that seal's up against the boot lid when boot is closed. If this seal is leaking it can also fill up the rear ABS sensors aswell. Hope this is of some help!

You do need to put an ammeter in series with the battery. when you do the reading ,do allow for the boot lamp.

Not really as the key uses the vucuam pump also, thats if you have one.
