Quick query; can anyone please tell me whether the solenoids that actuate the door locks on my Mercedes C Class type W204 are constantly powered, or do they operate from a pulse of electricity only when the doors are locked or unlocked?
The automatic locking of my drivers door has stopped working and I am planning to install a universal door lock actuator to overcome this. My concern is that if the actuator is constantly powered it could become hot and may then be a fire hazard.
I realise that i can check this myself once I’ve exposed the wiring, but i would be grateful to know before I start.
