I wonder if anyone can tell me if this is normal. i have just changed my 95 sl for a 2000 model with digtal climate as opposed to the old thumbwheel controlled older version. On the older version it was possible to set the centre vents to blow quite fiercely with or without the booster botton being pressed in the cnetre vent console. The only way I seem to get any really forceful air out now is by turning on the "recycle air" switch which boosts the side vents and then the booster switch (for the centre vents) whisl tits not life chnaging I just want to know if this is Merc deciding what we cannot do or if it's a malfunction.

Thanks

I cant recall any difference on the one that I had from re cycled air to fresh, it could be the difference between the climate control on this one,as against air con on the last one.

Hmmm... I see your point, but the switching on the the red or blue button in the centre has little or no effect i would have thought that would have been some sort of override...

Check your dust filter , a greater airflow on recycled air than fresh air could mean your filter is clogged and due for renewal.

The red and blue button is for warm or cold air in the top vents. No boost here.

Do as C220GJS says and check the air intake filters, under the bonnet, take out the few screws along the grill.

Looking
The side vents and centre vent flow is controlled by the three wheels in the middle of the dash - turn the side ones down and leave the centre on full - use the fan switch to blow out as much air as required. You can also select just centre vents or windscreen or footwells and any combination inbetween.
