centre console bulb in w220 s class

Can anyone help,finally got round to investigating why my centre console is not lit.Removed the plastic led/bulb assembly only to find no wire connected,looks like someones changed it in the past and has dropped the wire,bugger.Had a look if i could retreve the said wire but as theres bugger all room,can get one finger in the hole(no pun intended) it looks like this methods not going to work.The only other way would be to remove the center console inner but his looks like another major headache.Could someone help please,some info on how to remove the parts with out damage would be helpful.Cheers.

Gary,

you access the back of the centre console light unit by removing the vent and plastic panel from the rear of the console. The vent assembly is only clipped in and just requires levering out using a trim tool or flat plastic strip or similar. Be very careful once this unit is loose though as it too has a cable attached which is the illumination for the vent assembly. Don't pull too hard or you will break the connector (like I did!)

The bottom of the vent sits onto the air pipe which runs under the console. Once everything is removed you will be able to see the hole in the back of the console box and the cable should be in there somewhere.

If you need to get further access, the blank panel at the bottom of the back of the console will also come out. Again using the flat tool, prise the top away from the console. Once it is loose, the panel just pulls up and away from the console.

Refitting is the reverse, but don't forget to plug the connectors back in and be careful to ensure that the cable for the lamps does not get trapped when you refit the vent. It is possible to get the cable between the vent and the pipe which means it will not sit properly.

Just one note, mine does not have the rear ventilation controls but I imagine that if your does, it will just be another cable to unplug and plug back in again!
