Change from Miles to Kilometres

Hi,

Can anyone tell me whether there is a setting that I can change so that my speedometer uses Kilometres instead of Miles?

Assuming you have a W211, I thought it displays kmh in the middle?

I don't understand these codes "W211" etc, I have a Jan 2009 e320, is that a "W211"?

Yes, it does display Kms in the middle though very small. I was wondering whether the whole speedometer could be set to Kms though as that would make me less likely to pickup a speeding fine in France next month . Also I will be be using Sat nav so doesn't the small KM in the middle disappear then?

The KM stays no matter what. There is no way to change the main speedo read KM.

I lived in Sweden for many years and I just got it into my head to make a 1/3rd calculation.
In simple terms

50km =30mph
60km =40mph
90km =60mph
110km=70mph.

You can change to a big display in the speedo by cycling through the menu using the L/H steering wheel button. This will display the speed in MPH but fills the centre of the speedo. If you then go to system settings you can change from MPH to KM. Use the command screen to display the satnav.

My first car ('73 Beetle) was a S. African Import and had a speedo in km/h which I had for a number of years. For a while I had a piece of paper on the dash of conversions but I soon memorised them. (I wonder if that helped me pass my driving test, the examiner wouldn't have had a clue what speed I was doing! It was a different world 35 years ago.)
Amusingly years later that came in useful, 1mph = 1.6093km/h and for work (computers) hex computation hex'10' = decimal 16 so even now people wonder how I know hex 50 = decimal 80 and can quickly do other conversions....
