Change MPH to Kilometers

Hi Helpers

I have a SL500 and I am taking it to New Zealand when I emigrate in January

According to my manual I should be able to change my speedo from MPH to KPH when going to edit my setting I can change language /Temp from C to F / Clock from 24 hours to 12 hours but it dose not give me the option to chang Miles to Kilos when speeking to Merc they could not help or were not interested. The speedo only has 1 set of numbers around it giving me the inpresion that if the needle is on 30 it could be Miles or Kilos subject to what you have it set at Has anyone got any ideas on what I should do I am assuming that it is not going to be a remove dash job has this would be a massive job.

I found this on the internet.

New member here, first time merc/amg owner.

I just took delivery of a 2004 SL55 (Black/Graphite) and love it, but I have a couple of questions/queries.

1. In the manual it says I can change the reading on the left instrument display to read mph instead of km/h - but when I try it, there is no option to change. Spoken to the dealer who says there is no way to change it! strange...

No, you cant change the speedo dial read out, Short of changing the whole panel,(expensive) or dismantling the original and fitting a new face.there are firms out there that do this kind of work. you could buy stick on conversion dials once, and do not know if you still can but would not on your car.
Instruments with a digital read out can be changed but your speedo is not digital

you will almost certainly find your answers in new zealand. i am sure they will be more sensitive to the issue over there!
