Screen washer jets started to only dribble, now nothing. I assume washer pump is faulty. One post says remove wheel, inner arch etc to replace pump. I don't currently have a good place to do this, so is it possible to get at the pump and replace it by going in from the top and taking out the washer bottle?

What car? If it's a W203 like mine I'd say - not a cat in hell's chance! However, it's not that difficult to get the wheel and the liner out, just need to jack up the front nearside as if you had a flat tyre - that's all I did the time I investigated that part of my screenwash system!

Might be a silly question, but ...

... you HAVE checked for debris in the washers themselves (by unclipping them and cleaning them out - either in hot soapy water or with an airline) before concluding that it must be the screenwash motor at fault??

Actually, I assumed it was the pump since both jets stopped at exactly the same time. When I started investigating I did check water flow etc and popped the jets off. The pump is fine. The jets are blocked. I have them soaking in vinegar at the moment but they still seem blocked up. Any ideas how to expedite matters? Can the jet fitting be further dis-assembled without breaking anything? Any suggestions appreciated since I have an MOT next week.

Bit of a long shot if your stuck, but try looking at some of the water jets they use for hanging baskets in the local garden centre. I know it sounds a bit of a joke, but they are similar and use the same plastic hose. (at least to get you through the mot) failing that get a resistor and use the wire to clean out the holes.

A needle and good old-fashioned mouth to mouth resuscitation usually works.

Then you need to reposition the jet stream (same needle) once they are back on the car.
