Done - no breakages.

Been soaking them for the last few days in WD then liberal application of penetrating fluid this morning before taking it out for a run to get it nice and hot.
Boom ! Well played buddy :D

I had to change my controller, (om642) then later (I think) my plug light started staying on. It starts fine still so I'm going to leave it, I don't want to risk it. If I start getting problems I'll change all of them. Annoying things

Cdi engines use the glow plugs all the time , not just at cold start , there is also a chance that glow plug failure can damage the gp relay module , which obviously costs more than the glow plugs .

I used Beru because the faulty MB one I removed the other year was MB/Beru branded , also because I had a spare Beru in the garage I didn’t need to think too hard . Can’t comment on Bosch other than they are well known for most stuff they make

Thanks to this great thread and all the valuable info within various posts I finally found time today and replaced my glow plugs too.
I followed the "instructions" so had already purchased the Plusgas spray and within the week I sprayed all of them few times. Same today before my 45' drive to warm it up properly.
Every single one came out easily with the torque wrench at about 7.5Nm during unscrew. Only one needed more patience and a bit more Plusgas spray, that was the one next to the turbo actuator (if not mistaken this should be the no 3).
My icarsoft was finding no 4 and no 6 as faulty. The old ones were Beru and the new are Bosch. Installed at 8Nm torque.
Thanks again.

Saw an eBay deal on Bosch glow plugs the other day , picked up 8 for £40+ with various discounts . I might embrace my inner @DSK and do a gp freshen up because they are a few years old .

I hear ya buddy , they were so cheap though you have to keep on top of these things . Apparently a sudden death of a gp can blow the relay module which as you know is a lot more expensive.

true, but knowing how well you look after your cars you will know ASAP when a GP is out.
I am with you in getting bits cheap and keeping them in storage. Its always a nice feeling to do the job and think how much you saved not only DIY but also on the parts.
