Sorry, but that means nothing to me. I know it doesn't specifically mention SLK but all this catalytic converter stuff - who knows whether I have that or not.
All petrol cars after 1/1/1993 have them fitted.

How can you possibly not understand wot our guvverment is telling you in writing on the internet :geek::shock:

The full text is below. Does your car run on petrol or diseasel, the fuel of the devil. If its diseasel, no worries. If its petrol it will have cats as they were standard in year 2000. The guvverment state the MB cars not suitable to run on E10, your R170, SLK as you call it aint on the list.

Ok - thanks to all! I gather I'll have no problems with E10 fuel! Maybe it won't cost me £75 to top up next time?!

Now that's a good question. At that age I'd be inclined to use super unleaded.
Three way catalytic converters didn't come in until 1993 so yours is probably slightly too early to run E10.

Taunton Dean Services were charging £182.9 for V-Power Diesel yesterday!!!!!

Be £2 by Christmas!!
It did see £1.71.9 at a private garage in Scotland last month, at least it is still cheaper than a litre bottle of spirits......

Talking to my Brother in Law who has a Mazda CX30. He said he is now using E10, one of the reasons he gave me that he was getting a noticeably better performance and fuel economy from it. Following his experience I decided to try it and see how I got on with it. My experience was the complete opposite to his. I seem to have lost the edge on performance and lost at least 6 to 7 MPG. How can there be such a difference between the different the two ?

Has anybody else had such negative results from E10, I know that that is not the point of E10 but it certainly doesn't give you much encouragement to use it. I am going to continue to use E5 for as long as is possible after that experiment

You may need to give it a tank or three to reset the fuel trims.

With mowers, you should ideally drain the fuel when laying up the mower. Chuck the fuel in the car. Run the mower till it cuts out and spray carb cleaner in the air filter inlet.
Although your mower starts at the moment, with old fuel in it will start to gum up the carb needles and you may find after a many years it gets worse to start.
I have 2 ride on mowers now al,ost 20yrs old from new and mint. They have never been in the mower place for repairs and its what was my first steps into engine / machine maintenance.
When winter comes I run all my kit dry. Nothin in carbs till spring, much easier than trying to yank the cords or cookin starters in the spring.
