Hi,

would it be possible to transfer the "guts" from a set of pre-facelift xenon headlight units to a set of facelift lights and what would be any issues?

My car is a 2003 S320 with facelift clear lights (which are as bright as the proverbial candle in the wind!) I would like to fit xenons but the cost for facelift replacement units is ridiculous to say the least but I was wondering if taking all the ballasts etc out of old units and upgrading mine would work

I know there are the lamp warning sensors to worry about which is whyu I would prefer to buy a set of proper Merc lamps and take all the equipment out and fit it to mine. Are the plugs the same etc? Is it possible!!??

Thanks

PS, Malcolm, still no word from the chap regarding the headlights on the website..... do you have any other way of contacting him??

Thanks

Baz

It would be easier to fit the old pre-facelift xenon units as a whole. I'm not sure you could just swap the lenses.
You would also need to get the levelling sensors and looms as the xenons will be electricly levelled, the halogens are pneumatically operated (if its anything like the C class)

As whitenemesis above,,you could not do it ,the lamp fittings and even the glass is not the same. you need the control units plus the leveling and washers, plus all has to be coded

Have a look at these people - could save you a lot of expense, time and hassle.

Seems a bit expensive to me, i converted my motorbike to a HID light system, took less than half an hour using the car kit H4 units that i bought off evilbay for £40 and that included post. Once you change over you would not want to go back....the difference is astonishing
