Chassis Code of my MB 500

Hi I have a little problem with my MB 500SE I believe it to be a 1985 model, however, the insurance company is claiming it has to be a 1986 model.

The Chassis Code is as follows

I think that VIN is one digit missing - shouldn't they be 17 numbers?


I see you've changed it now but that one's not on the database either - same result as Guy

there is 17 digits including the WDB

As far as I count there is 17 digits WDB1260362A112963

It was made in 1984 in England and has the correct options on it. Been searching all evening for Vin codes and had some very amusing results from it being a 380SL to a 2002 500 model at least we know now.

Impressive stuff - is this from an easily accessible database or via a Dealership?
What I would like to know about my own car is the Bumper /skirt colour. You don't mention it and perhaps the one you quote above was all one colour?

It was from the Russian MB club site. It doesn't list the skirt colour, although it is silver.

Stick in the Vin number and hey presto.

Oh while Im here can you suggest what Bosch Fuel injection system I have ? I have replaced the leads, plugs, cap, rotor arm now the car is running like a tin can in a concrete mixer. I really need the idle screw. Found the fuel mix bit.

just do a google for it and idle...

check that the idle switch operates. check for air leaks. check for throttle plate opening correctly.
