Cheap Mercedes servicing in Surrey, Uk

Hello folks,

I need to get the wife's Merc serviced at a garage for two reasons. First it needs to be serviced at a garage to be covered for the 3 year (2 years left) mechanical insurance (similar insurance saved the day when the old Peugeot's cambelt snapped). Secondly there are Mercedes specific bits that may need checking which are beyond my capabilities.

I usually do an oil+filter change every 6 months, and can do spark plugs, air filter, break pads and such simple things. But I cannot do anything harder.

If you know of a cheap mercedes garage in Surrey UK, specifically near Cobham please let me know. The main dealer wants something like 300 pounds for service A which is "checking levels only" - nothing renewed. The car is due for service B now (even though I have changed oils twice).

Excellent info. I know Weybridge a little, up the seven hills road, left into weybridge up to a roundabout - that's the extend of my knowledge.

I will look them up now on the yellow pages. Can I mention any names?

Cannot find them up in yellow pages. Also, from your experience with him, would they be OK with me having changed the oils + filter + break pads already, or will they insist to take over? For example can I call them and say "please quote me/do a service B at 30,000 miles but do not change the oils as they have just been changed" ?

I used to use SS Motors for my 107 - Joe is very knowledgable but he was getting busier and busier so getting to speak to him was increasingly hard. His son, Carlos is worth dealing with.

Failing that Tony Purslow is a main dealer and they offer 40% off of servicing for MB over 5 years old.

Rallen, You can say that I (Mr Emin) mentioned SS motors. It is best to just turn up if you want to speak to him. I had oil smoke coming from under the car a few weeks back, dropped in on Joe and Carlos bunged it straight on the ramp and sorted it for me. The number of classics and I mean REAL classics he has in there always reassures me.

If you go down Weybridge high street and turn right at the mini r/b by the church, you are now heading out of WB towards the M25 J11. Past the Colony chinese restaurant on your left (nice food, bit of a rip), straight up over the bridge and then the road straightens out to a small dual Cway. Turn left at the lights, straight at the r/b (Mazda on your left) and about 100 yds up on the right after a greasy spoon is a little turning into some industrial units. Joe is at the far right end. There is a body shop there with all sorts of stuffed exotica too.
Hope this helps. I'm sure he will just do the bits you want him too and charge you accordingly.

OK great, Tony Purslow is in Guildford, seems a bit too far out for me but I called them anyway, they want 435 pounds for a service B on my 4.5 year old E320. I asked him to take the oils out of the equation and he quoted 358 pounds. Although the chap was very polite, the price sounds a bit dear for me

I will take it up again when we come back from holidays, we are away next week.

It will be my wife taking the car in, unless of course I can visit on a Saturday. I will try this Saturday actually, I will print the directions to Joe+Carlos now.

I personally would pay the bit extra to keep a FMBSH. Whilst it's proven not to be 100% essential - a FMBSH is required for the the Mobilo Warranty.
