Dreaming of a CL55k - one day maybe....
Just to let you know, that Merc at Cribbs Causeway and Weston super Mare (so both Sytner group) are doing 10% off labour rate for over 1yr old cars and more for 2+ and 3+

They also are doing something called Platinum - if your car qualifies (I think it has to be 4yr old or more or something) then they are just charging £40 per hr labour - which for a main dealer is very very cheap I think!

This isn't just service work either - anything, BUT you have to ASK for it - they should offer it automatically but the lady in service said they don't always offer it or remember.

Apparently Merc are very worried about the older cars going outside the network and are keen to undercut indies - so I think it's gotta be worth asking your local dealer if they are doing anything similar, or if you're local come to Bristol or Weston!

Sounds good but I think I will stick with my indi, I'm sure that they will find ways of bumping the bill up.

Its happening across the country. I'm finding dealers very competitive these days. The quote from my dealer to fix my front suspension spring was within £2 of the indie's quote before I started to haggle. When I agreed to have both done the price per corner then dropped dramatically, to well below what the indie quoted. The Harrogate dealer is offering free MOTs for life.

Also,
ALWAYS ASK FOR A DISCOUNT
=======================
I did yesterday and an already very reasonable quote of £303 instantly came down to £270. Just for using the phrase "Is there any discount available on that?". If you pay through the nose to a dealer these days there's nobody to blame but yourself.
Plus you get the MB breakdown cover included with every service ("rules apply") which having had call to use yesterday for the first time, is excellent. Car collected from my house and delivered to the dealer and a loan car delivered. I made 1 phone call and the whole system swung seamlessly into action.

Cant think what that could be

As you didn't put a  - a lot of the MOT is based on the tester's opinion and dealers (of all marques) will always err on the side of results that maximise the opportunity for add on work.

Sorry about the  bit but spot on, worse for those who do not know better when they take their car in

A very nice way of saying, "con you into thinking your car is dangerous and you must spend loads of money with them, otherwise you and all your family that drive in the car are at risk!"

Bunch of liars.

All true guys but the Leeds dealer offered a free MOT with every service. I was a bit suspicious but credit where it's due, we took them up on it and they passed both our E's.

They have the testing kit anyway, can quote for any work that's required, it doesn't cost them much to provide (1 bloke for half an hour) and they keep you visiting the dealership. How many cars have they sold to people who popped in for a small repair or a service and were 'just browsing' whilst they waited ....... so even as a loss leader it's not a bad marketing option for them.

MB at Truro are doing price match, I presume it's the same at all MB south West.
Plus be cheeky and ask for your 20% MB owners club discount.....price match is good though.
