Hi Guys,

Is there anyway of checking the diff oil level (W124 e220) and is it worth putting ZX1 into the diff, i've read on a few forums that it supposed to improve the lubing of the diff?? is this true??

Thanks

You have to get under the car and remove the filler. You'll need a hex tool (Halfords do them) to remove it.

To check the oil, poke a finger in the filler hole, if you get oily, it is full. If there is no oil on the finger, then fill from a squeezy bottle of EP90 until it dribbles out the fill hole, replace the plug and you are done.

I cannot help with the ZX1, I use Massey Ferguson EP90 and have never had issues.

I just checked out the website for ZX1. I would not bother if I were you, if you are concerned, then simply change the oil in the diff more frequently.

As MotardMan I would not use additives

All MB diffs look messy

two potential problems if no car lift.

1. can you get under the car to do the necessary ?

2 if not, can you lift the car sufficient, and can you lift it on a level keel front to back and side to side ? so that you check is accurate.
