Has any come across message on dials ' SRS Service' this only happens with a passenger in the front seat. I think it could be the child recognition sensor & i phoned my local dealer who has quoted me over £500 to fix. Does anyone know of another reason this message would appear or where I can purchase this sensor at a resonable price.

2002 SL500, 216 CL500, all fully loaded
This could be a poor connection under the seat or a broken wire in the seat pad or a seat belt buckle fault.
Just try with the engine running and someone in the seat and no belt connected

Hey cog

Two years ago I replaced the seat sensor matt on my S-class after having similar problems to yourself, total cost was about 300 euro, it's gone again and it's as annoying as ****e, not bothering any of the guys with the problem here as it's happened before, if you drive without someone in the seat srs light doesn't come on, soon as someone sits in it and then gets out, on the light goes again, very frustrating when you're worried if you have a head on or side on that the airbags will not deploy.

Mine seems to be a bit different to yours as the ****** cluster keeps flashing all the time a passenger is in the seat, once they are out everything is fine. My thought would be that if I were in a crash the passenger airbag wouldnt deploy if I had a passenger in.
