Hi All

I have 2 chrome strips on the rear of my GLA45 that I would like to remove to wrap or paint. See uploaded pictures.

Can anyone advise how they can be removed without damage so they can be refitted after painting?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Justin

Almost certainly stuck on, if it
is, it's relatively easy to get off, get some fishing line down one end of the trim, and use a sawing action to remove the trim, gently warming the trim with heat gun or hair dryer will help, then clean any residue left with petrol and a micro fibre cloth, you can refit it using double sided tape, 3M VHB tape is best.

Are you sure Tony ? I would think the chrome strip across the bumper almost certainly is, but the boot lid ?. I know mine is a completely different car but the chrome strip across the boot lid is screwed on as yours is too probably :)

No not 100% sure, just thought it would be, my boot lid, chrome strip was stuck on
with tape and plastic clips I got it of by using small PLASTIC levers, so I could spray it.

The chrome strip on the boot lid should have approx 8 small openings on the underside (visible when boot is open). Insert a flat head screwdriver and twist once - this will pop the trim off. Just clicks back in again when done.
