Hi
I've been hankering after some chrome wheel arches for my White 1993 190E....
They're only 40 quid or so from Eurocarparts ... but I don't know if they will look naff....
Has any body seen them on a white 190 ??...... I've seen them on other merc's

Also how do they fix to the wheel arch...no drilling I hope.

opinions please.......

I'm not a fan myself, but if you like 'em then get them. I know a regs here don't reckon much to them. Usually if a MB is up for sale and it has chromed wheel arches then punters assume the chrome covers are hiding rusty panels.

I don't know whether covering the wheel arches with chrome will promote rust tho' maybe others have a view.

I'd not considered that the chromed arches could hide rust. More that the owner is either selling drugs or some other "commodity". Ahem.

Moving on, I think...

I reckon they're a bit tacky, to be honest - that might be why they're "only" forty quid...

Just a thought. ;-)

White.

Matt Crooke started a similar thread some months ago, i don't think he'll mind me saying that he was "shot down in flames" over his plan, and aborted the mission!!

If you fit the chrome arches and some water gets behind them you might well have a rusty benz.  Another good reason to remove the silly badges off the back.  My stupid boot lock has gone all rusty and the car's only (almost) 4 years old, what's that all about?  I plan to have it welded up like the indicator repeater holes soon - it's cheaper than a new lock!

Chrome Wheel Arches

good point that...

If I fit them I'll put some waxoyl on the wings behind them...no rust that way....

Not that I'm definatley going to fit them.

The rust behind the badges thing is that common on benz's ??
