I tried to use my cigarette lighter today, for the first time, and it doesn't get RED hot !

It gets very hot, too hot to touch but not RED hot or enough to light a fag !

It works enough with one of them adapter things to power up an external sat nav too.

The cigarette lighter button itself doesn't want to be pushed in and stay in, so that it can later pop out - to get it to get hot you have to hold your finger on it to make it stay in.

Such a trival thing, as I hardly ever smoke but a niggle that it don't work !

Could it be that the lighter is not the original or something else maybe ?

Any help appreciated as usual.

Thank you......... Jon

The side contacts that hold the lighter in have become strained, probably by the use of other plugs, the contacts can be bent inwards a touch to hold it longer (and hotter)make sure that it is off when you adjust it, or you will blow a fuse

Maybe the smoking ban has come in early ;-)

Alternatively try another lighter in its place.
