CL203/2002/220cdi
Thought I' post my research and final resolution of my rough idling, stalling ,smoking issues on my 2002 CL 203 220cdi, in the hope it might be helpful.
I have been trying to resolve the above problems for many months with many ideas put forward such as injector faults, Dpf faults, fuel pump or fuel filter failure etc etc,so much experimentation and ruminating went on ?!
Finally hit on the solution yesterday, when I disconnected the AIR MASS SENSOR plug and ran the engine with the old MAF disconnected, ( cheap MAF from eBay) and hey presto it ran perfectly, revved and idled normally whilst at a standstill. Took it for a test drive and again it ran faultlessly ( only up to 2000rpm as must have been in " limp mode" due to MAF plug being disconnected).
So ordered a QUALITY replacement MAF sensor (PIERBURG £56 after discount) from Eurocarparts, fitted , test drove for 20 minutes and car is running perfectly, revving to 4000rpm ,and no smoke!!
SO LESSON LEARNED FROM THIS - BUY ONLY GOOD QUALITY MAF FOR YOUR CAR AND DON' T WASTE MONEY ON CHEAP CHINESE etc. JUNK FOUND ON EBAY etc etc.
