The Soft close and central locking does not work I have tried the fuse behind the drivers seat it is fine also the boot release does not work I have to use the key to open the boot could it be the Central locking pump ???? and is it an easy change is there any other checks I could do.

A mate of mine with a CL500 had his repaired by someone (not sure who) and it was fine.

As both doors and boot have gone it points to pump, my CL has lost the soft close to the boot only, so I’m presuming (well Phil at Welwynmerx) thinks it’s an relatively easy fix for mine.

At least the key worked in the boot lock- some owners have not been so lucky! One thing I would do if you repair or replace the pse pump is to check carefully for leaks in the system, particularly the boot soft closer. Leaks can cause the pump to overheat and fail. Seems also that some replacement pumps require coding on Star but some don't.

Hopefully just a few blobs of epoxy on the leaking bits!

Am I correct in saying the pump is in the left hand side of the boot as when I try to lock the vehicle there is a clicking from that area as if it is trying to work.

That’s it... it’s worth taking it apart to see if there is any moisture build up inside.

It may have a seized motor. The pump itself is a vane type and the vanes are made of carbon. They can break up and jam the pump. There are rebuild kits available on eBay (and probably elsewhere). There are also a couple of eBay sellers offering a rebuild service.
