I'm looking at getting either a CL or SL anyone have any advice on a good years and engines etc before so I can limit my search down.

Never really been into brand new cars (not since I wrote off my M5) so age and millage have never really bothered me.

I have seen a few CL AMG's I rather fancy, sorry its a bit vague but I'm still shopping and looking at the moment, they are two car's Id very much like to own

With the SL there were slight changes after 2003 when the comand went to wide screen,,from 06-06 the face lift came out,,and the engine is far more efficient, with better 0-60 times and economy.

The face lift CL came along in 2003 and ran til 2005

The CL has 4 seats and the SL 2, but offers open air motoring,,not much difference in construction and they share many feature,, when you decide on what car,,I will give you a list of the options that were available, and if they are worth having

Good choice and the CL with windows down and sun roof open is pretty well ventilated whilst giving the advantages of rear seats and good boot.

A post face lift of 2005 (later the better) should be well inside your budget. 5L cars are quite hard to shift at present and these are well made and well specified.

I look forward to hearing what you choose (and seeing pics if poss).

We do that now with the CLK time the seats move forward there is plenty of room to get in and out, plus she drives a 5 door focus ;)

As Malcolm. Go for it.

I just did a search for CLs on Autotrader - up to 5 years old, up to £30,000, up to 40,000 miles.

http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-u...=&ukcarsearch_full.x=63&ukcarsearch_full.y=12

If the link works it shows 5 cars - one is a private sale, circa £25,000 but only 13,500 miles.

I do like the AMG you posted but its silver and I've never had any luck with silver cars. My silver SLK had a skip placed on it, my silver M5 i wrote off and last week I bumped the wifes silver focus...
