Does anyone know how to completely remove the rear parcel shelf? I want to be able to get at the rear speakers to replace them.

I have figured out how to remove the rear seats, take of the speaker cover grills and also remove the 1st aid kit box. However, at this point it is not clear how to proceed further and what needs to be dismantled. It looks like the rear head rests and the sun blind all need to be removed to pull the cover forward?

Unfortunately the speakers are screwed in and removed from the top of the rear shelf but the cut-outs in the parcel shelf cover are not big enough to do this without removing the whole cover - I don't really want to cut this to remove the speakers even though it would be covered by the grills.

Thanks,

Dave

I think from memory you have to remove the carpet from the boot area that runs up to the underside of the parcel shelf and then you can remove the speakers, there should also be some cutouts in the carpet panel so you can gain access to the speakers.

jib, thanks for your reply. But I am still not clear how to get at the speakers. I found the carpet cut-outs in the boot as you describe which are where the rear of the speaker vents into the boot. The speaker is mounted on top of a short plastic tube which is part of the baffle but it doesn't look like this can be pulled down from inside of the boot even if the carpet panel is removed? (I can see fixing screws in to the top of the speaker surround underneath the parcel shelf inside the car, thats why i thought you needed to remove it to withdraw the speakers upwards from inside the car, it doesn't look like the speakers can be removed downward as the speaker surround is larger than the hole it is mounted into).

Ok then the only thing to do is attack it from the inside, remove the rear seats, easy bit, the parcel shelf is the tricky bit, you have to remove the first aid box and then everything is straight forward from there.

Unfortunately we seem to have gone round in a bit of a circle here!

I have been able to remove the seats and the 1st aid box as you describe but having done this the complete removal of the parcel shelf cover does not appear to be obvious / easy. It is still held firmly in place and I cant see if further dismantling is required or if it is simply held in place by clips or similar that must be pulled out. I don't want to try prising it up or pulling it without knowing how it is held in place as it would be easy to break something.

Has anyone got access to a diagram that clearly shows the fixing? I have looked on the Russian site but this does not indicate the clips, screws etc that actually hold it in place.

You need to unclip the rear pillar panels where the courtesy lights are. This reveals a hidden screw holding the parcel shelf!

Sorry to bring up an old thread! Does anyone have these instructions to hand? Is there a trick to remove the pillars without damaging them?
