Hi all

I was travelling home just now and when I came to make a left turn my left indicator on the dashboard was flashing very quickly and I got the message ‘turn signal reflector check bulb’!

When I got onto the drive it seems my indicators are working fine front and rear, I’m not sure what this is if anyone can throw any light on it for me?

Many thanks.

Kindest regards.

your car thinks a turn signal' lamp aka indicator bulb has blown. I'd clean up any & all connectors to the fittings/cluster and see what happens. New bulbs might help.

It’s the indicator in the left door mirror. They’re easy to replace and aftermarket parts cost around £15-20.

I purchased a genuine new Mercedes one for £27 from ebay.

Thanks for the info.

It's worth checking MB. It was a while back, but I recall replacing the mirror LED indicator module on my old W215 with a part from MB parts dept. as it was cheaper than from elsewhere and came with the correct wiring.

First check that you get 12v at the mirror indicator (if indeed it isn’t working)
If no voltage, then check the loom at the door hinge, they suffer damage/broken wires.
Easyish fix (but fiddly)

Ok now this is getting interesting!

I haven’t fitted the replacement light yet, however today when I got out of the car as I was walking away the left-hand mirror indicator flashed when the car was being locked and unlocked?

The plot thickens?

Any thoughts?

Broken wire in the door harness, almost for sure. It’s a pig of a job to fix.

I had a feeling it might be this when I saw the led’s flash when I locked the car, that sinking feeling!

Just be careful removing the door card. It’s not a pig of a job but is tricky, and when I say the door card I really mean the whole door inner. It’s a big old lump.

Several threads on this here including one by me, I think!

Edit. Halfway down the page, this thread was what got me into the 215 in the first place! https://forums.mercedesclub.org.uk/index.php?threads/my-cl500-project.101539/page-3
