I have a 2005 CL500 and a problem with CD playback.
CD’s work fine through the head unit via the boot mounted multi-stack unit.
However, even if I load the very same CD into the single shot slot on the COMAND head unit, it says format not recognised.
All CD’s are genuine and not copies.
Any ideas guys.?
Many thanks, Will.

Strange things do happen,, I take it it reads the navi disc ok, maybe the head unit is incorrectly coded

2008 E 500 A/G Classic colour combination.
I had some issues and found one of the CD / DVD cleaning disks sorted it out. Had to put it through 3 or 4 times from memory and never had another problem. This was on a 2001 E 320 CDi with all the toys.

I too would suggest that a lens cleaning disk may be required.
The head unit slot isn't used very often.

By the way it should be able to read DVDs as well as CDs.

Well, I tried cleaning it, but the head unit won't even recognize the damn cleaning disc.
No matter what CD or DVD I load in the head unit, this is what appears. :(

Both the Nav system and the multi change unit work fine.
Anyone got any more ideas....

Thanks, Will

As my earlier post it needs STAR to see what the head unit region is set for,,thats all I can think of

On my w220, the single slot would never play CD's, only took the navigation disc. That was the previous version of comand, i.e none wide screen.

Mine will only accept the nav cd so I assumed that was all it was for! It just does nothing if I put an audio cd in, no message or anything.

Perhaps that is normal then for that head unit :D
