The pleasure of my new ownership of a 1998 CL500 was temperered in the first week by the battery failing.
It's now replaced but the off-side rear window no longer shuts properly: it closes to the top but then drops down about 3/8ths of an inch.
I've tried to reset it by holding down the electric window switch for a time but no joy.The only result is that it shuts fully when the switch is depressed but pops back to the 3/8ths opening when the switch is released.
    Any advice gratefully received!
PS otherwise it is a sensational car.....

OK now on that nice car you have to disconnect the battery for 20 mins to allow the caps to discharge

Now join up again and the windows may go to the half way point on their own but ignore this

Turn the ignition on, close the door window on the slow lift ( not button all the way down) and hold the switch for 5 seconds when closed. close the rear side one the same and hold that for 5 seconds, then do the other side :D:D

As Malcolm above, but if that does not work, consider the possibility of a wire break in the driver's door hinge area (where they flex) - very common on this car and can give odd symptoms like this.

As above. By the way that is a nice motor.
