Morning All, i am the very proud owner of a 2002 CL500. I am in the Bristol area and am wondering if there is an upgrade option for the exhaust to give a more sporty "burble" on the car? I love driving it but doesn't seem to be as good a sound as i expected from a V8. I had another car with a V8 engine that had a Cybox upgraded exhaust that sounded great. Is there an off the shelf option available anyone could recommend??

Thanks

Could be worth finding a good local exhaust fabrication specialist that could make a system for you? That way it could meet the tone and volume you require.

Many thanks

Before adding an X pipe make sure it doesn't already have one just in front of the rear axle. Some cars seem to have one there....

When I bought mine it had had a rear silencer delete, nice on start up, but awfuldrone in real word usage.
I had to get a set and fit them, - calm restored :)

As already stated a secondary CAT delete and an x-pipe is normally the first thing to try. It will release a little more of the V8 burble without any drone and doesn't annoy the neighbours.

I had a bespoke system done on my 55 with the deletion of the 2 rear cats, two sports cats replaced the front standard ones and the X section, still nice a quiet on idle and soft throttle usage (so no angry neighbours) but does give off that real V8 note at a good decibel reading under moderate to show off mode use :D And no drone at all at any speed inside the car to experience ;)

I've got a SL600 and would like to get a bit more noise...don't want to ruin the normality of the car but would like a burble on proper acceleration...smaller rear silencers?

Enjoy the apparent silence... it’s why you have an S Class derivative!

Mine isn’t standard... I do enjoy the smoothness of it though.
