Hi Any one suffer from bottoming out on undulating back roads, usually it is just the tires that foul on the wheel arches, usually the passenger rear, but today it sounded like the underside of the car grounding .? 80mph +

regards

AL.

No. But you should be able to see the marks on the undertray if you are bottoming out and if so stiffer springs may help...:)

Could you have broken springs?

I thought these had hydraulic suspension and so no springs? my Lexus had air suspension and that had no springs just an air bag?

there does not appear to be much clearance between the factory fitted 19" AMG alloys and the top of the wheel arch, I assume if it is similar to the Lexus system then there will be a height sensor which you can adjust to alter the ride height?

If there was a fault on ABC regarding the ride height, the car would soon tell you , the dash goes red and warns you to drive with care.

I know these systems quite well, the ride height is set on STAR

Sorry, I didn't look at the date of the car.

Yes and very common in the USA, if there was a fault on the car, then only one corner would be affected, as all for corners have their own height sensor.

What size are the tyres fitted

On the rear 285/35/R19 front 24/40/R19.

I had a look under the car today but dident see any sign of scraping, the only possible wear was on the bottom of the strut where the tyre had rubbed against it.

Those sizes are correct for the AMG wheels. That is only a plastic cover over the strut, its a bit of a mystery

had this problem

I had this problem on my 2004 CL55 with 19 inch, turned out to be a hydraulic problem, went on for ages and was not discovered until the hydraulic pipe split completely spilling fluid all over my drive. When it came back out all was fine and no more grounding out noise on back-roads at speed. Used to scare the crap out of me when it happened. Would have your levels checked out ASAP before the thing goes altogether.

so was it leaking fluid before it failed, as I have not lost any fluid, i would assume there must for it to drop it must push the hydraulic fluid back into the system or leak out??
