I have a Mercedes CL600, its a 2000 model and the battery keeps going flat. I have had a new battery fitted and the alternator is fully charging.
The car has been at a Mercedes main dealer now for 8 weeks and they have no idea why!, does anyone have any ideas?
Thankyou
Paul

Thankyou for your help, I have already paid to have the Command unit replaced as they thought that was the problem but the next day it had a flat battery!! They think it may be down to something called a SAM unit, what ever that is but they now have to decide which part of the SAM unit is faulty.
I think its incredible that Mercedes can build a car but there technicians cant fix them.

Sadly MB are not alone in this, its spread over the whole motor trade, very few people these days venture into electronics, its badly paid, and many have had their fingers burned. Very interested to know the outcome.

MercedesCL600 with electrical problem

I finally today picked up my CL600 after it being at the main MB garage for 12 weeks!!!!!!!
They have told me the fault was the switch which controls the rear windows from over closing and nothing to do with the Command or control system.
I await in the next couple of days the car does not have a flat battery.
I just hope any one else with this problem does not have to face a bill of 40 hours and £221 parts!!

How on earth can it take 12 weeks to sort this a window reg/switch causing a battery to go flat all you need is a mutimeter and a fuse puller to sort out that I find that incredulous:???:

Did you say 40 hours??? Like, £4,000+ for labour? Just to find a fault on the window shut-off switch. Or was there a lot more to it than that?
This has to be a record and the bill should go for arbitration.

Hi, yes I did say 40 hours and the suggested bill was £4300!!!!, I refused to pay and my defence was; the amount of time they had the car, the £1400 I had already spent having the command unit repaced by others and why I shouldpay for there in experience.
We settled at 5hours plus the parts, I was just pleased to get the car back.
I hope no one else has to go through this.

We had quite a discucssion at the trade fair over this type of legal fraud.

there are now 4 very good analysers that are dedicated to MB, more and more indies and electronic service centers now have access to this, I think that I will buy one now.

Would you mind saying which dealership billed you this amount?

Is one of them an ammeter?

That would have been my first step. If current was being drawn, then the next step would be to see where it was going.

5 hours? more like 5 minutes.
