i'm a bit worried by the n10 relay as the case has already been opened. i assume this means someone's been in here before? television,--if you pm me your address i'll get it off to you asap. i've been searching for one online, but other than the states at $350 plus postage i've not been able to find one. the wipers indicators and hrw stay on with the stalk unplugged. i bought a 2nd hand one from a merc parts specialist in pourtsmouth on ebay. no change. the intermittent relay that i thought was the n10 i replaced too on ebay from germany. no change. pins and part numbers the same. so i take it stalk and that relay are fine. just this n10 to sort out. if you could check/repair/service it that would be great. i'll keep looking for a spare though against the day when it bites the dust. one will turn up eventually. in the meantime i could be trying it out on the road soon.

Check that when you unplug these relays that the wipers or indicators stop working… just in case the mouse you mentioned earlier hasn’t chewed through a live cable somewhere.

I have sent you my Email address :D

Re the relay, when you pull it out do check for any burning on the pins on the relay and in the socket, and that all the connectors are in the holder as they can burn and melt

ok, another i/2 hour. i pulled the relay. took a bit of doing as the connectors are so short you can't really see how they come off. still cautious about breaking something!

before-- lh indicator only working, but switching on and off with the stalk. wipers on and off on 2 and 3 with the stalk and park properly. no reaction to position 1. hrw on all the time.

after-- hrw off at last. no indicators left or right. no hazards. no wipers on 1, but 2 and 3 work with the stalk. stop where ever they are when i switch them off.

fairly conclusive it's the relay i think? i'll send it off (thanks for that) and in the meantime i'll clean contacts, earths, fuses etc like crazy.

not sure if i can read reliable faults with the relay out so that's maybe it for a while. see how i get on.

140 820 2426 was no available last year and the Mercedes had a batch made.
Most of the re-manufactured ones were faulty so they ditched their supplier.
Where does that leave us? Attempting a repair on your undoubtedly iffy multifunction relay.

Where in SW France are you? My home and the 300CE-24 are in 24, near Nontron. I live in Paris for work so my son looks after the wheels.

Like you, there are no specialists nearby and I've long ago junked the dealerships, even though I bought the car at MB in Périgueux.

I have a friend who has (had?) a 600SE so I'll ask him if he ever found anyone good. He's now in Aubeterre so maybe there's more hope over there. I assume you haven't found a local expert.

Any old way, bon courage.

hi guys, yes still in limp home. i'm not going to test drive it till i've got working indicators and wipers., all relays present fully charged battery etc etc. i don'#t want any misleading faults flagged up. one thing at a time.

i live in riberac, 24600. that's less than 20kms from aubeterre and maybe
35kms from nontron. i've not found any specialists. tha main dealer is useless. i've sent my relay off for an overhaul. thanks to television. hopefully that will get it going. if neccesary i'm sure something will turn up.

i've not looked at the car for over a week now. patience is a virtue? once the relay is in place and all is well i'll ct it and take it for a spin, having carefully noted then cleared all existing faults. i'll know more wqhen i read it after that. updates will follow.
