Hi, I have just changed my 95 SL280 for a 2001 CL600. I have noticed that when going over a bump in the road the car seems to have an after ripple almost like there is a shock absorber gone.! The feeling is from the rear. It has just had a service and MOT. I wouldnt expect this feeling from a car with so much sophistication in the suspension. Has 19" Wheels and the tyres are correct to the Filler cap. The car has covered 65k. The car is under warrantee from the dealer but I wanted to check it out before going back to him.

Any Ideas ?

You shouldn't even feel a bump in a CL 600!! I have one for a few years now and I really love it. Its definately the best car I have ever had for going around corners. The ride is bstter than my 07 LWB S Class. I did have a problem like you describe once. The rear drivers side went hard and a warning message apeared on the dash "ABC Fault go to workshop". I raised and lowered the car a few times with the switch on the dash. The problem never reoccured. If this doesn't work get your ABC checked out. Sorry I cant be more technical but if I can do any more for you just ask. Good luck with the car. By the way are you half way through the car manual yet?

I have the same set up on my car, see if there are any fault codes on the car.

Did you buy it from a MB dealer

There are no fault codes showing, I will try the raise and lower to see if it makes any difference. I didnt buy it from MB dealer but a reputable(I hope!) specialist. Its going back tomorrow for their views !

Thanks so far guys..

The unfranchised dealer I bought it from said they couldnt detect any problem but Im certain there is a fault. Does anybody know of a good specialist in the Essex/ North London / East anglia area that could do a dignostic?

It had ABC, I dont think it has ADS, the problem seems to be worse if I switch on ABC. It appeas the rear is at a different setting to the front as when the rear wheels go over a pump or hole the rear seems to skip whereas the front seems fine.

Hang on you cant switch ABC on or off, you can choose between soft or firm ride, or alter the ride height.

I would say that it would be better to get the fault codes read out
