To Malcolm's point, damaged rims is a hard way to learn.


When you go down as low as 35 or 40 profile, even with rim protection, the only way to ensure they are not damaged is to park a foot out from the kerb, a lesson my wife learned after it was kerbed 3 or 4 times. I may also have contributed a couple of times, but I don't tell her that. ;)

And pot holes can destroy wheels, and we have more of our fair share of those

With my 20" wheels - I consider 1 foot as the absolute minimum - ideally I go for the disabled spaces (yes - I DO have a blue badge :p)
