i know it will depend on the way its used, how its driven etc, but roughly how long should it take to clear all the soot etc from inside the exhaust components after being clogged up when running with a burst intercooler? I gave it a thrashing for 2 or 3 miles, and it still smokes quite badly when accelerating hard. when driven gently all is fine. im getting slightly worried something else may not be as it should be.

all advice greatfully accepted. EGR has been deleted via the EGR mod so i know that isnt the fault. car is starting to drive normally without cutting the power BUT still clouds of cr@p coming out of the back when accelerating hard but clears if i take it to max rpm. when i change gear to accelerate again, the smoke returns, etc...

A good half hour (minimum) at speed down a motorway would have been much more effective.

Two or three miles is neither use nor ornament!

Older Citroen Now :-(
With the car near on on the limiter, 3rd gear would do it

I was just going to say lock it in 2nd or 3rd and go for a blast at a legal speed..
Ideally a god thrash up a long steep hill with really make her lungs work.

Hey Pete, I am pleased to read you did the EGR mod..
No problems with the doing of it I hope ??

no problems at all Simon, Thanks. I did the mod within a few days of receiving the instructions and resistors etc you made up for me. the wiring colours matched up and it really couldnt have been simpler! just waiting for an appropriate opportunity to try out the green pads now! im going to wait until the current ones need replaced though, although being MB original parts, that might happen sooner than I would normally have liked! very much appreciated and thanks again!

on the few miles i did yesterday, i discovered that it will do over 70mph (almost 75) in third gear. everything was clean at that point, but once i changed to 4th gear and accelerated, i realised the smoke had returned and that i was running out of private road!;););)

6 speed? itll hit near enough a ton in 4th!!!:shock:;);) im not shy of using the 'go' pedal!!! especially if its legal and i can afford the fuel (not often now, until im working again:-:)-( )

Can someone please direct me to an EGR mod for my diesel 2008 bluetec. I am just about to begin putting her back to get her after replacement of the orange gaskets. I love this car and want to keep the oil cleaner. I am also wondering what a good upgrade us for the intercooler. Has anyone experimented with methanol injection? Etc. Thanks
